Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture said Wednesday that Brazil over the next 20 years, natural rubber output is expected to be from the present 100,000 tons to return to about 446,000 tons, so that Brazil for the first time nearly 100 years to achieve self-sufficient supply of rubber.
In the late 19th century to the early 20th century, Brazil has the world's largest natural rubber producing countries, the Amazon rain forest as the production of a large number of wild rubber tree.
But the disease leaves of trees led to the death, the transfer of production to Malaysia and the Far East.
Brazil is expected to resume production of natural rubber, as Mato Grosso, Bahia, Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais and Goias industrial plantations.
The Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement quoted Chairman of the Association of Natural Rubber Production Joao Almeida Sampaio as saying: "In the past two years, the production area has increased by 15% -20%."
In the next 20 years is expected to rubber plantation area from the current 120,000 ha to 340,000 ha.
Sampaio said: "The next few years, Goias and Minas Gerais region rubber production will increase substantially." Brazil are expected to 15,000,000 hectares of land could be applied to form a rubber plantation.
Brazil imports of rubber each year about 200,000 tons, cost 10 billion dollars. However, Brazil can once again become an exporting country.
Sao Paulo, Brazil is the largest rubber producing state, 60,000 hectares of rubber plantation in the annual rubber output of 50,000 tons. Followed by Mato Grosso state, 25,000 hectares of rubber plantations, the annual output of 22,000 tons in; Bahia state in the annual output of 10,000 tons.
