Cameroon, according to media agencies quoted a few days ago predicted that Africa this year and next year the growth rate of natural rubber production will be more than 2%.
In 2005, Africa's natural rubber output is expected to reach 397,000 tons more than last year's 2.7 percent growth in output. In 2006, Africa's natural rubber production is estimated to be 406,000 tons more than this year's 2.2 percent growth in output.
In 2002, 2003 and 2004, natural rubber production in Africa were 367,000 tons, 370,000 tons and 391,000 tons. Africa's major natural rubber producing countries are Cote d'Ivoire, Liberia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Congo (DRC) and Gabon. Africa exports mainly natural rubber.
