Malaysia suspended the export of rubber wood permit

Malaysian plantations minister Peter Chin Fah Kui and the original industry recently said the Cabinet decided to stop issuing Malaysian rubber wood export permit in order to alleviate the furniture industry in the face of rubber wood shortage of raw materials to ensure that the national furniture industry to have access to adequate supplies of raw materials.

He said that the cabinet in June at a meeting to make this decision, effective immediately. Although the government has issued a comprehensive cessation of rubber wood export license, but this was before the export license of the 44 companies still allowed to December 31 this year, prior to the export of rubber wood to continue, the remaining quota for the export of rubber wood used. In other words, from January 1, 2006, Malaysia's export of rubber wood will be banned. Malaysia's domestic production of rubber wood supply only the local furniture industry.

Peter Chin Fah Kui said that 80% of Malaysia's exports of rubber wood furniture is made, in recent years, the furniture industry to flourish so that the increase in the demand for rubber wood, rubber wood prices rise dramatically. He said Malaysia Timber Council, responsible for the management of the domestic distribution of rubber wood, rubber wood market close supervision to ensure that the domestic market continue to be rubber wood supply and stable prices of rubber wood, and a monthly report submitted to the Cabinet.

At present, Malaysia's main exports of rubber wood to mainland China, Vietnam, China Taiwan and Europe. This is the first time the Malaysian government ban on the export of rubber wood measures
